Professor Xiong Chengyu received his doctor’s degree from Brigham Young University in the United States in 1994. Currently Dr. Xiong is the director of the Tsinghua Research Center for Cultural Industry and the director of the Center for New Media Studies, Tsinghua University. He is the member of the Advisory Committee for State Informatization (ACSI). Dr. Xiong has written, edited and translated numerous books and articles. Dr. Xiong has been working on various national projects with the State Council, Central Propaganda Ministry, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Education, State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, General Administration of Press and Publication and many state departments. In August 2003, Dr. Xiong was invited by the central leaders of the CPC Political Bureau to give a lecture on the strategetic development of China’s Cultural Industry.

Dr. Xiong’s current project is a key project sponsored by National Foundation for Social Science Research entitled “Research on Theories and Practices on Developing China’s Cultural Industries.”
