Tsinghua Research Center for Cultural Industry was founded in May 2004 under the guidance of the central leaders of the Chinese government in order to strengthen the academic studies of cultural industry and further develop China¡¯s cultural industry. The center was jointly founded by seven schools of Tsinghua University including School of Journalism and Communication, School of Economics and Management, School of Public Policy & Management, School of Law, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Art and School of Information and Science under the approval of the board committee of Tsinghua University.
Cultural industry is currently under the spotlight of world leaders and scholars. Tsinghua Research Center for Cultural Industry has the advantage of strong relations between the academic and industrial fields. The center functions as the think tank for the central government officials with interdisciplinary and cross-fields operations. It is named as one of the ¡°National Research & Development Base for Philosophy and Social Science¡± of the country.
The center has a strong research team with leading scholars around the country. Its mission is to contribute to the developments of China's cultural industry by studying the patterns of China's economic and social changes and examining the experiences of other countries.
July 2004, Opening ceremony of Tsinghua Research Center for Cultural Industry, hosted by deputy director Wu Shulin, General Administration of Press and Publication, and vice president He Jiankun of Tsinghua University.
January 2005, the center invited cultural attach¨¦ from 10 countries to attend a workshop.
August 2005, the center jointly hosted a cultural industry forum with Yunnan province government.
